Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with alleged human trafficking offences as part of a police operation targeting retail crime across the west of Scotland.
A 62-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were arrested on Thursday, September 3, following enquiries under Operation Dynos, part of the Retail Crime Taskforce.
Exploitation of vulnerable young people
Police believe vulnerable young people are being targeted and exploited to steal alcohol from shops across the west of Scotland. Officers say the operation is also focused on protecting children and young people from being coerced into criminal activity.
Police statement and court appearance
Constable Paul Steell said: “We remain committed to tackling retail crime, while continuing to safeguard young people from harm and coercion into criminal behaviour. We will continue to gather evidence and use all resources at our disposal to tackle this type of crime.”
The pair are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 4.
The latest arrests bring the total number of adults arrested in connection with the alleged criminal exploitation of children and young people under Operation Dynos to nine since the operation began in April 2025.
