Man charged after delivery driver threatened with knife

A man has been charged after a delivery driver was allegedly threatened with a knife and had his vehicle stolen in Wavertree.

Incident at Wavertree Retail Park

Merseyside Police were called to Wavertree Retail Park on Wavertree Road in Wavertree around 7.30am on Friday, August 7. It was reported that a delivery driver had been threatened by a man armed with a knife.

The man allegedly took the delivery driver's car, which reportedly later crashed into a parked vehicle on Mill Lane. The driver fled the scene of the crash and was later found and arrested by police.

Charges and court appearance

Dean Porter, 43, of no fixed address, was charged on suspicion of robbery, threatening a person with an offensive weapon, aggravated vehicle taking, driving a vehicle other than in accordance with a license, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance on Saturday, August 8.

He was remanded into custody and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, September 7.
