Caoimhe Robinson, the wife of alleged cartel boss Daniel Kinahan, is facing an uncertain future after her husband was extradited to Ireland. The mother-of-five had been living a life of luxury in Dubai, but the extradition has burst the bubble she and other Kinahan associates were living in.
A Life of Luxury
The family's seven-bedroom home is located in Dubai's exclusive Palm Jumeirah resort. Robinson also owns six other properties, including a villa in Emirates Hills, where Petra Ecclestone is a neighbour. Her lavish lifestyle is said to have been funded by money from a cartel accused of controlling about a third of Europe's cocaine supply.
Kinahan fled to Dubai in 2016 after an attempt on his life at the Regency Hotel in Dublin. There, he and Robinson enjoyed a gilded existence, with £220 tasting menus and £500 Beluga caviar. Their 2017 wedding at the seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel was attended by heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury and other international crime figures.
Property Portfolio
Leaked records from the Consortium of Investigative Journalists show Robinson has been buying and selling property in Dubai since 2017, including a villa purchased for about €2.1m. In 2022, she was listed as joint owner of four Dubai properties with her husband. Despite her Irish roots, she no longer has a home in Ireland and did not return for her mother's funeral in 2020.
Her links to crime predate her marriage to Kinahan. Her previous husband, Mika 'The Panda' Kelly, was murdered by the Real IRA in September 2011. She is reported to have met Kinahan during a trip to Spain in 2014.
Legal Troubles
Kinahan's extradition follows the conviction of Sean McGovern, the first cartel member to be extradited from Dubai to Dublin. McGovern, said to be Kinahan's right-hand man, is serving 24 years in prison. His partner, Anita Freeman, has returned to Ireland, and their former Dublin home was seized in 2016.
The Criminal Assets Bureau could now target Robinson's assets if she brings money or property into Ireland. It remains to be seen whether she will return to support her husband in court.
