The airport, located in the Scottish Highlands, issued a warning to travelers this afternoon (June 14) that it was forced to shut down because of an unspecified situation.
Closure Details and Passenger Advice
The airport announced that it would remain closed until approximately 4pm but advised passengers to monitor updates closely. In a message posted on X at around 1:51pm, Inverness Airport stated: "Inverness Airport is closed until approximately 4pm due to an ongoing incident. We advise passengers to contact their airline for the latest flight updates before travelling." The same message was also shared by Highlands & Islands Airports, the managing body of the airport.
Flight Disruptions
Despite the planned reopening at 4pm, disruption for passengers is expected to continue, with the latest information showing delays for the majority of flights scheduled to take off and land today. According to the airport's website, all arrival flights are delayed from 2pm to 5:15pm, although the flight from Luton at 5:30pm is currently listed as on time. Departures are also experiencing delays from now until 5:55pm, with the only on-time departure being the EasyJet flight to Luton at 6:25pm.
