Bounty on Killer Gangster Doubles to £100k
Hashim Uddin, 33, who killed his brother-in-law Omer Sadiq in 2021, has seen the revenge bounty on his head double to £100,000 after he was released from prison earlier this year. Uddin had previously gone into hiding when a £50,000 bounty was placed on him by associates of Sadiq from Glasgow's south side. A source told the Daily Record that the bounty increased after Uddin encountered one of Sadiq's old acquaintances at Silverburn shopping centre and had a row. Uddin has reportedly sought protection from the Lyons crime gang.
Teen Charged with Attempted Murder after Woman Mowed Down
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a 49-year-old woman was struck by a car on Clippens Road in Linwood on Tuesday, June 30, at around 3:45 pm. The woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and later released. The teen is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Thursday, July 2. Police Scotland confirmed the arrest and charge.
Rapist Police Officer Jailed for 10 Years
Former Police Scotland officer Cameron Ross, 39, was sentenced to 10 years in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, July 2, after being found guilty of raping two women and carrying out a campaign of domestic abuse against a third. His offences included rape, domestic abuse, attempting to pervert the course of justice, and threatening or abusive behaviour. The crimes occurred in Inverness and on the Isle of Lewis between 2012 and 2022. Ross was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
£1.35 Million Heroin Seized on M74
Police seized £1.35 million worth of heroin after stopping a car transporter on the M74 near Lockerbie. A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug supply offences, due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, July 2. Detective Inspector Gary Lamb of Police Scotland's Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit said: 'This was a significant recovery of drugs which thanks to the hard work of officers, has now been removed from our streets and significant harm has been prevented.'
Former Court Manager Posed as Female Escort to Swindle Men
Lee Moffat, 29, a former sheriff court custody manager, was spared a custodial sentence after pretending to be a female escort named 'Danielle' online to con seven men into sending money for naked images and videos between 2016 and 2018. He attempted to get between £50 and £200 from each victim but only obtained a total of £200. The scam was uncovered during a police raid on his home in Armadale, West Lothian, investigating missing items from the court. Moffat had also stolen police equipment including a stab-proof vest, batons, a warrant card, and a Crown Office ID card over nine years. He was found with a fleece jacket with a police badge, suggesting he was impersonating a constable.
