An Alabama man convicted of raping and murdering a 5-year-old girl, who was sold to him by her own mother, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday, August 13.
Jeremy Tremaine Williams, 37 at the time, was arrested in December 2021 for the murder of Kamarie Holland. The child's mother, Kristy Siple, had reported her missing from their home in Columbus, Georgia. Despite a massive search, Kamarie's body was found dumped outside an abandoned house in Phenix City, Alabama.
Investigations revealed that Siple had agreed to sell her daughter to Williams for $2,500, later reduced to $1,300, for the purpose of sexual abuse. Williams never paid the amount. Siple, 35, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for human sex trafficking.
Chilling Details of the Crime
On December 13, 2021, Williams abducted Kamarie after agreeing to pay Siple. Authorities say he forced the child to smoke meth, filmed himself raping her, strangled her, and continued to sexually assault her after her death.
Sergeant Jane Edenfield of the Columbus Police Department, who helped search for Kamarie, hopes the execution brings closure. She told USA Today, "It's just sickening." Edenfield also expressed that Siple "should probably be right there next to" Williams.
Investigation and Trial
During the search, a tip led detectives to a deserted property owned by Williams' family in Phenix City. Despite it being outside their jurisdiction, detectives Braden Dobbins and Edenfield followed the lead. They found Kamarie's body in an outdoor cellar, propped against a wall, initially mistaken for a doll.
Edenfield recalled the haunting impact: "For a long time it just ate Braden and I up. Could we have done more? Could we have gotten there sooner?"
During his 2024 trial, Williams instructed his lawyers to offer no defense and did not appeal his death sentence. He showed no remorse, only stating he was "just sick." Jurors convicted him of murder, sodomy, sexual abuse of a child, production of obscene material, human trafficking, and abuse of a corpse.
If the execution proceeds, Williams will be the first inmate executed in Alabama this year and the 22nd in the U.S.
