Video footage shared on YouTube shows a security guard telling a man he cannot enter the pub while displaying the England flag. The man questions whether he would be allowed in wearing an England football shirt or a Palestinian flag, leading to a heated exchange. The staff member threatened to call the police as the situation escalated.
The man recording the incident called a senior staff member a 'leftie s***bag' and urged a boycott of the pub. The security staff remained outside while the senior member retreated inside. The pub's management has not commented on the incident.
This follows a similar event in Nottinghamshire last month, where a woman was denied entry to a Wetherspoon pub for wearing a Union Flag dress. A Wetherspoon spokesman said the manager acted to avoid increasing tensions amid local protests over an alleged crime involving an asylum seeker.
The incidents come as St George's flags are being raised across the UK as part of 'Operation Raise the Colours', which has sparked both patriotic displays and concerns over provocation amid immigration debates.
