Tottenham Hotspur striker Omar Marmoush has been fined after a court found he failed to insure his £250,000 McLaren supercar. The Egypt international, who joined Spurs on loan from Manchester City earlier this season, was prosecuted by the DVLA after officials discovered his McLaren 720S was neither insured nor declared off the road.
Court proceedings and penalty
Court documents show Marmoush, 27, was issued with a fixed penalty notice on June 17. After the penalty went unpaid, the DVLA pursued the matter through the courts. At a hearing before Teesside Magistrates' Court on October 5, the Spurs forward was convicted and ordered to pay a £220 fine, £100 in costs, and an £88 victim surcharge.
The case was dealt with under the Single Justice Procedure, which allows lower-level criminal offences to be considered by a magistrate without a full court hearing. According to court papers, efforts were made to contact Marmoush at a luxury apartment in Manchester city centre where he had been living before his move to London. The striker did not respond to correspondence from the DVLA and did not enter a plea to the charge.
Background and transfer details
Marmoush joined Tottenham at the end of August on a season-long loan deal that includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer. The forward made the switch after scoring 10 goals for Manchester City following his arrival at the Etihad Stadium in January 2025. He also represented Egypt at this summer's World Cup and has become a regular part of the national team's attacking line-up.
Under UK law, vehicle owners must ensure a car is insured at all times unless it has been formally declared off the road through a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).
