Harper Beckham's Beauty Brand Faces US Trademark Hurdle

Harper Beckham, the 14-year-old daughter of Sir David and Victoria Beckham, has encountered a setback in her plans to launch a beauty brand after the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected her application to trademark the name 'Hiku By Harper'. The decision was made because the name 'Harper' is already licensed for the sale of brooms and scrubbing brushes, while 'Hiku' has been registered by a company selling fragrance and toiletry products, according to The Sun newspaper.

Despite the US rejection, the trademark has reportedly been approved in the UK. Harper's proposed brand is intended to focus on skincare and beauty products aimed at younger consumers, drawing inspiration from Korean beauty trends. A source told The Sun: 'Harper loves fashion and make-up and has already started doing make-up tutorials. The plan is to create a brand aimed at the younger market, taking inspiration from pop culture and Korean beauty.'

The news comes as Victoria Beckham discussed 'Brand Beckham' on Emma Grede's Aspire podcast, stating that the family's business ventures evolved organically. She said: 'When David and I first met it was never our intention to start a brand. People talk about “Brand Beckham” - that has happened so organically.' She also addressed the upbringing of her children, emphasising the importance of supporting them without being pushy.

This development follows a public rift with her eldest son Brooklyn, who in January accused his parents of prioritising their brand and claimed he had no desire to reconcile with his family. In an Instagram post, Brooklyn wrote: 'I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'
