Marcus Rashford made his first appearance for Manchester United since December 2024 on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 4-2 defeat to AC Milan. His return has dominated conversations around the club this week, with teammates publicly backing him.
Players unite behind Rashford
Harry Maguire was asked about Rashford's impact after the Milan match. "He can improve us, for sure," said Maguire. "I think when you seen when he come on, he threatens the back line really well. He could have even scored for us."
Maguire added: "He's a huge threat to have in your team. So if he's going to stay with us, obviously the transfer window is still open, but we hope as players that he stays and he's a big asset to have. I've played with Marcus for numerous years and I know that playing against him, playing with him in training is going to help us."
Teammates echo support
Maguire followed Youri Tielemans and Noussair Mazraoui in backing Rashford. Tielemans said "you want that type of player in your team", while Mazraoui praised him unprompted. All three are clearly pleased to have Rashford's quality in the squad.
Future uncertain
Despite the players' support, United remain open to selling Rashford if a suitable bid arrives before the transfer window closes on September 1. The club has shelved plans to sign a left winger, making a late replacement difficult if he leaves.
Everyone at United appears to have accepted Rashford will be at the club for the 2026/27 season, but a tempting offer could still change that. After a week of public backing from players and manager, selling him now would be a risk.
