Lincoln City have said they are "deeply disappointed and angered" after a supporter invaded the pitch during their defeat to Swansea City at the weekend. The incident occurred in the first half of the match at Sincil Bank, with the hosts leading 1-0 at the time thanks to a Reeco Hackett penalty.
The alleged offender was seen being tackled to the ground by stewards before being led away. The club has now reacted to the incident, confirming that a full review has begun and that they will support Lincolnshire Police with any investigation.
Club statement condemns actions
In a statement, Lincoln City said: "Lincoln City Football Club condemns the actions of the individual who entered the field of play during Saturday’s fixture against Swansea City at the ProAmpac Stadium.
"Entering the playing area at a football match without lawful authority is a criminal offence. The club has begun a full review of the incident and will support Lincolnshire Police fully with any investigation.
"Separate from any police or court action, the club will apply the strongest sanction available under its supporter sanctions policy."
Safety and potential sanctions
The club stressed that such incidents are not harmless, saying: "Entering the pitch creates a real and unpredictable risk to players, match officials, our stewarding staff and themselves. The safety of everyone inside the stadium must always come first."
Lincoln City also noted the potential consequences, as they remain subject to an FA Action Plan until the end of the 2026/27 season following previous supporter misconduct charges. When the club was last sanctioned by the FA in January 2026, the independent Regulatory Commission stated it had given very serious thought to a partial stadium closure.
The statement added: "Further supporter misconduct could expose the club to more severe sanctions, including the closure of sections of the stadium, which would punish thousands of supporters who have done nothing wrong."
Swansea went on to win the game 2-1, with goals from Moussa Yeo and Stephen Eustaquio.
