FPL GW1 Team News: Haaland, Timber, Bruno Guimaraes Latest

The Premier League is back, and with it comes the return of Fantasy Premier League. From debating transfers to mulling over triple captains, the highs and lows of an FPL season are set to grip fans once again. A summer of change has directly fed into FPL, with plenty of big-money transfers shaking things up. Ahead of the first gameweek, Express Sport details all the important injury news.

Jurrien Timber - Arsenal

It looks like being another season of contending with injury issues for Jurrien Timber. The defender, who was so impressive in the first half of last season, underwent surgery earlier this summer to fix a groin problem. He is expected to be out for several weeks and is unlikely to return until the autumn.

Bruno Guimaraes - Arsenal

The big-money arrival at Arsenal this summer, but has Bruno Guimaraes already got a knock? The midfielder was subbed off during Sunday's Community Shield win over Manchester City, with suggestions he is a doubt for the Gunners' opener against Coventry City. Mikel Arteta confirmed ahead of the game that a late fitness check would be needed.

James Garner - Everton

Having been a little unlucky not to be involved in England's World Cup squad, James Garner will have to wait to kick-start his 2026/27 campaign, having been ruled out of the season opener. It is not believed to be a serious problem, and he should be back to full fitness soon, with Harrison Armstrong expected to get the nod in the Englishman's absence.

Benjamin Sesko - Man Utd

Having been one of the high-profile Manchester United players that did not go to the World Cup, Benjamin Sesko would have been looking forward to making an impression during pre-season. However, a shin injury kept him out for the entirety of United's programme, but that appears to have cleared up, and Michael Carrick confirmed the striker should be in the squad for the Hull City clash.

Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland - Man City

It has been a tumultuous week for City, who, alongside losing Rodri to Barcelona, also found out they will be without Jeremy Doku for weeks. The winger hobbled off injured during the match against Arsenal, leaving City light out wide for their season opener against Bournemouth. No player has ever been as expensive heading into an FPL season as Erling Haaland, but the marksman did not look at it against Arsenal a week ago. Enzo Maresca confirmed post-match that he had a problem with his heel, but the Norwegian should be fine for this weekend.
