Cardiff RFC player Isaac Marsh hospitalised after match

Cardiff RFC centre Isaac Marsh was taken to Prince Charles Hospital on Saturday evening after feeling ill in the dressing room following his team's 59-14 win over Ebbw Vale in the Super Rygbi Cymru.

The 24-year-old, who is also a content creator and a close friend of Bristol Bears star Louis Rees-Zammit, had completed the full 80 minutes before falling unwell. He remained in hospital for further examinations on Monday morning.

Thanks to Ebbw Vale

In a statement posted on social media, Cardiff thanked their hosts for their help and support. The club said: "A huge thank you to all at Ebbw Vale RFC for your help and support after today's match when one of our players was taken unwell."

The statement added: "We are incredibly grateful to your members and staff who were incredibly supportive and helped us through a difficult situation going above and beyond with arrangements to secure the well-being of our player."

Cardiff also praised physio Sophie for her professionalism and thanked their on-duty committee members for their care and attention, adding: "The compassion, patience and willingness to help were very much appreciated."

Details from the scene

Clive Davies, one of the committee members at the game, said: "He had a funny turn after the game. He completed 80 minutes of the game and came off. He went to have a shower and then started to feel ill in the changing room."

Davies took Marsh to Prince Charles Hospital with fellow committee member David Morgan. He said Marsh had come round and was being kept in for more blood tests.

Davies praised Ebbw Vale's response, saying: "The kit man, the van driver, the doctor. Jon Jones, the chairman, found a doctor for us as the team doctor had left. They were brilliant. I couldn't fault them and I've written to them thanking them for their assistance."

Popular figure in rugby

Marsh, who has over 50,000 followers on his social media account Kaizen Rugby, helps coach youngsters and has documented his attempt to become a professional player. He previously played for Gloucester, where he met Rees-Zammit, and the pair have remained friends.

Ebbw Vale responded on social media: "Thank you for the update on the player. Very much appreciated. Sending our best wishes for a speedy recovery from all at Ebbw Vale RFC."
