Two-Year-Old Overdoses on Cocaine; Man Charged

A two-year-old boy in Wildwood, New Jersey, nearly died from a cocaine overdose on July 20, prompting the arrest of 39-year-old Alexander T. Moles on child endangerment and drug charges. First responders found the toddler struggling to breathe, with Moles driving him to hospital. Paramedics administered two doses of naloxone nasal spray (NARCAN), which revived the boy. Blood tests later confirmed the presence of cocaine.

Investigation and Arrest

Following a judge-ordered search of Moles's Airbnb, police discovered a pill, tinfoil packets labeled "tapentadol hydrochloride," a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance, and several short plastic straws. A joint investigation by the Wildwood Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit was initiated. A spokesperson stated: "Through the investigation it was determined that Alexander T. Moles was vacationing at a residence in Wildwood, New Jersey when the two-year-old male became ill."

A person convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of three to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison."
