A man has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in his home in Broadgreen, Liverpool. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident on Thomas Drive at 5.54am this morning, arriving within six minutes with three fire engines.
Firefighting Efforts
Firefighters discovered that the ground floor of the two-storey house was ablaze. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. A second team, also equipped with breathing masks, entered the home to search for occupants.
A man was rescued and treated by paramedics before being transported to hospital. Crews continued to fight the fire and search the premises. The fire was extinguished by 6.30am.
Road Closure and Investigation
Thomas Drive was closed from Norville Road to Queens Drive while the fire was ongoing but has since reopened. Neighbours reported that police officers conducted door-to-door inquiries and took witness statements. Forensics and fire investigators were also seen at the scene.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed that the force was alerted by the fire service at 6.30am. A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. A joint investigation with the fire service is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
