A 19-year-old Albanian man attempted to escape police by leaping across a roof in his slippers during a raid on a cannabis factory in Cofton Hackett, Worcestershire. The suspect climbed out of a first-floor window and jumped over a gap, but was quickly detained in a nearby garden.
West Mercia Police acted on a tip-off and recovered 60 large cannabis plants worth an estimated £50,000, along with 198 smaller plants that could have been worth up to £1,000 each. Officers also seized cultivation equipment and a sophisticated electrical system from the property.
The raid was prompted by concerns from neighbours about drugs and suspicious activity in the area. The 19-year-old Albanian man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.
PC Rod Hartwright of West Mercia Police said: 'The warrant shows we will not tolerate drugs within our community and will continue to act on information given to us about drugs. Drugs have a negative impact on our communities and can lead to other localised criminality and the harm and exploitation of vulnerable people.'
