A woman found dead at a property in Mossley has been named as 61-year-old Julie Loco, as a murder investigation continues.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to a home on Winterford Road in Mossley on Tuesday, August 4, where a woman was found dead at the scene. A spokesperson for Manchester South (Stockport) Coroners' Court confirmed a file had been received in relation to the case, and an inquest will be opened in due course.
Arrest and bail
A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. GMP confirmed on Thursday, August 13, that he remains released on bail while officers work to 'establish the full circumstances'.
In an earlier update, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At approximately 5.25pm on Tuesday 4 August, we were called to a concern for welfare at an address on Winterford Road, Mossley. Emergency services attended and sadly a woman, aged 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no wider risk to the public. A man, aged 60, was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed pending further enquiries."
Neighbour's account
A neighbour told the Manchester Evening News that there was a 'significant' emergency response on Tuesday evening, with the ambulance service arriving first on the scene.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life, it was like something from a movie,” they said. “They were in the house, I could just hear all the machines beeping, then it just went silent. They had to wait for the police to come. I’ve not been able to sleep from it.”
The neighbour said they know the pair to speak to. “I would say hi and stuff like that, that’s about it really,” they said.
