A woman whose husband allegedly refused to pay her medical bills while splashing out on sex toys for his mistress says she stayed in the relationship for the sake of a 'complete family.'

The woman, identified in local reports only as Wang, claims her partner never disclosed his £1.5 million fortune to her. She struggled to pay medical bills amounting to a fraction of that sum for injuries she alleges he inflicted. The Chinese man, referred to as Mr He in local media, was reportedly found guilty of intentionally assaulting his wife and given a prison sentence, though details of his sentence have not been disclosed.
A Troubled Marriage
Wang and He married in 1998 and had a child a year later. However, Wang claims the relationship soured and that He became abusive around eight years into the marriage. The 53-year-old alleges her husband assaulted her at least ten times between 2020 and 2023, leaving her with three broken ribs, hearing loss, and brain damage.
While Wang struggled to pay her 7,000 yuan (£775) hospital bills, her husband was hiding a secret fortune. She discovered this while collecting information on his bank accounts. Wang noted signs of his hidden wealth: 'I wear T-shirts worth less than 100 yuan each, but he always wears branded clothes and uses cosmetic medicine services regularly.'
Affair and Threats
Adding insult to injury, Wang discovered her husband was having an affair and buying his mistress sex toys. The mistress allegedly made threatening calls to Wang, warning she would hire a hitman if the couple did not divorce.
Wang chose to stay with He because her daughter begged for a 'complete family.' However, the girl, then 13, later turned on her father and served as a witness at his trial, supporting allegations of domestic violence.
