Piddington women betrayed by cowardly, treasonous MPs

The women of Piddington have been betrayed by cowardly, treasonous MPs, according to Express columnist Esther Krakue, writing after the village's campaign against a plan to house male asylum seekers nearby.

Only four MPs replied to 133 women

In September, 133 women from Piddington wrote to every one of the 266 female MPs in Parliament asking for help. Four replied. According to Conservative MP Joy Morrissey, the Women and Equalities Minister, Bridget Phillipson, refused point blank to meet them.

MPs were due to vote on October 14 to approve the Home Office's plan to house up to 1,256 male asylum seekers at the former MoD Bicester, half a mile from the Oxfordshire village. Morrissey forced the issue onto the floor of the Commons.

Columnist cites cases of violence

Krakue said the women of Piddington likely read about Deng Chol Majek, a Sudanese asylum seeker who stabbed hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte 23 times with a screwdriver in Walsall; Ahmad Mulakhil, who abducted and raped a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton four months after arriving on a small boat; Hadush Kebatu, who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Epping eight days after landing in Britain; Abdul Khan, who posed as a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat to groom and rape a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Nottingham; and Karam Majdi, who raped a 14-year-old girl he met online.

She argued that since 2018, three quarters of everyone arriving on small boats have been adult men, according to Home Office figures. She also cited Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood as saying that practically every woman waiting to cross in northern France has probably been raped along the way.

Columnist calls for gun rights

Krakue wrote that a woman in Piddington now faces a state that can move more than a thousand men it knows almost nothing about to the end of her street and then ignore her letters. Yet if she carries pepper spray for her own protection, she commits an offence, because British law classes it as a prohibited weapon. She argued that if the government won't protect women, it has no business stopping women from protecting themselves.

She said the cowardice and lack of imagination by politicians is treasonous, and that no other country on earth would muzzle its citizens and call them bigots for finding the abuse of women and children at the hands of a foreign male population to be anything other than evil.

Krakue also referenced male rapists being sent to female prisons, and JK Rowling facing death threats. She said she had been shouted down on live TV by two men, one of whom was Owen Jones, for saying that women don't have a penis. She concluded that a village of 350 people has done more to put women's safety on the agenda than the minister whose job title includes the word.
