NHS chief sentenced for naked campsite exposure

An NHS hospital nuclear medicine specialist has been sentenced after exposing his genitals at a campsite, leaving fellow campers upset and distressed. Robert Bradley, 53, head of nuclear medicine at King’s Mill Hospital, was handed a six-month community order after pleading guilty to intentionally exposing himself at Nantcellan Barns campsite in Clarach, near Aberystwyth, Wales, on August 26.

Note left beside his tent

The court reportedly heard Bradley walked around the campsite entirely naked, prompting multiple complaints from other campers to the site manager. An A4 note was later left beside a chair next to his tent, reading: “Please keep your clothes on. You are disturbing other campers.”

Despite the message, Bradley reportedly continued to wander around naked. Magistrates were told he became involved in an “extensive discussion” with a woman who challenged his behaviour, raising concerns because children were also on the campsite, Mansfield and Ashfield Chad reported.

Continued despite confrontations

Although he briefly put his underwear back on when confronted by other campers, he removed them again shortly afterwards and walked across the grounds into the female toilets. Police were called after he was told it was not a nudist campsite, as per Mansfield and Ashfield Chad.

Bradley, of Mansfield Woodhouse, admitted exposure at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on September 16. Magistrates imposed a six-month community order, along with probation requirements and a 90-day alcohol abstinence requirement monitored by an electronic tag.

Career in jeopardy

He was also reportedly ordered to pay £199 in court costs. His solicitor, Katy Hanson, said Bradley was “extremely remorseful” and “deeply sorry”, telling the court he was struggling to understand his own behaviour and that it may have been a coping mechanism linked to a “breakdown”, according to Mansfield and Ashfield Chad.

The conviction has reportedly placed his career in jeopardy. While he has remained employed by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust following the incident, his defence acknowledged it is “extremely likely” he will lose his position.
