A man is being treated for stab wounds following a serious incident in Cheetham Hill, north Manchester, on Monday evening (July 27).
Incident on Spender Avenue
Police have been at the scene on Spender Avenue since around 6pm. A section of the street has been cordoned off, and officers have been seen working inside a residential property. The man injured in the incident is currently in hospital.
Air Ambulance and Cordon
An air ambulance is understood to have landed on Bignor Street Park nearby. Eyewitnesses have also reported detectives and dog handlers at the scene. Nearby Thackeray Close was also taped off as officers made enquiries.
Police Statement
In a late update on Monday night, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed initial details and stated they do not believe there is a wider threat to the public. Detective Superintendent Sarah Harris of GMP said: “We are dealing with a serious incident on Spender Avenue in Cheetham Hill this evening that has resulted in a man being treated in hospital for stab wounds. We want to reassure the community we don’t believe there to be any wider threat as we work to understand the facts. We would like to thank residents for their patience and for helping with our enquiries – we will provide further updates when we have them.”
