A man has suffered a significant injury in an alleged stabbing in Swansea. Officers from South Wales Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene on St Helens Road in the Sandfields area early on Thursday morning.
Arrest and Injury
A 40-year-old man from Waun Wen, Swansea, has been taken to hospital with a significant injury. A 36-year-old man from Waun Wen has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and is currently in police custody. Police believe the two men are known to each other.
Police Statement
A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended St. Helen’s Road, Swansea at around 6.47am today (Thursday, August 13) following a report of a serious assault."
"A 36-year-old man from Waun Wen, Swansea has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. He is currently in police custody. A 40-year-old man from Waun Wen, Swansea has been taken to hospital with a significant injury. Both men are understood to be known to each other."
Investigation and Road Closure
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The road was closed for several hours, with a police cordon in place. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, St Helen's Road was closed in both directions from Dillwyn Street to Wyndham Street before reopening late on Thursday morning.
An increased policing presence will be seen on St Helen’s Road for community reassurance while officers carry out their enquiries.
