Iceland and Tesco have issued urgent alerts to shoppers this week after certain products were found to pose serious health risks. Food items sold in the supermarkets may be contaminated with E. coli, which can trigger food poisoning. Product recalls have been issued as a consequence, with customers being advised not to consume the affected items.
Tesco recall details
Tesco has withdrawn its Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls and Pesto Orzo Salad. The 215g pack carries best-before dates of August 25, 26, and 27, 2026, which has now expired yet shoppers may still possess the products.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) released a recall notice urging customers not to consume the product. It stated: "The possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli STEC in the product listed above."
Summit Foods wraps recall
Summit Foods has pulled the Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap from shelves due to potential contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (STEC). The recall covers all use-by dates up to and including September 5, 2026.
The FSA has urged shoppers who have purchased any of the affected wraps to avoid eating them and bin them instead. Iceland said: "If you have purchased, please dispose of immediately and DO NOT CONSUME then provide proof of purchase on sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where purchased. Safety and quality is our first priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused."
Simple face wash recall
Elsewhere, leading skincare brand Simple has issued a recall for one of its bestselling products due to a potential "microbiological risk" that could trigger eye inflammation. Shoppers who own the affected items have been told to cease using them "immediately", with the products now being withdrawn from shop shelves.
The Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water in 200ml, 400ml and 730ml bottles are all impacted. A recall notice was first issued earlier this month covering just one bottle size of the cleanser, but additional sizes have now been included. The recall covers both the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Simple stated: "We are recalling these products because the safety of the people who buy and use our products is our top priority. Other Simple products are not affected by this issue. We understand that product recalls can be concerning, and we are sorry for any concern or inconvenience this may have caused."
