In a case that has shocked South Korea, a husband has made an incredible plea for mercy on behalf of his wife who severed his penis during a violent, jealousy-fuelled assault in a public cafe. A Premeditated and Brutal Assault
The attack occurred in the early hours of an August morning in 2024 at a cafe on Ganghwa Island. According to court documents presented at the Incheon District Court, the 58-year-old woman, identified only as A, had become convinced her husband was being unfaithful. After careful planning, she enlisted the help of her 40-year-old son-in-law, referred to as B, to carry out her violent scheme.
The victim had been drinking alone at the premises and had fallen asleep when the assailants arrived. Prosecutors detailed how B used rope and industrial tape to restrain the sleeping man, rendering him completely defenceless. With her husband immobilised, the woman then launched a frenzied knife attack, repeatedly stabbing him before using a sharp weapon to sever his penis completely.

In a move that eliminated any possibility of surgical reattachment, the woman then disposed of the severed organ by flushing it down the cafe toilet. Emergency services later discovered the critically injured man and rushed him to hospital, where he underwent urgent life-saving surgery.
While doctors managed to save his life, they confirmed he had suffered permanent physical damage alongside severe psychological trauma that would require long-term treatment. The court heard how the attack had left him with irreversible consequences that would affect every aspect of his daily life.
An Unlikely Plea for Mercy
