The husband of a Florida woman accused of sexual contact with the family dog has released an emotional video in which he says he will need therapy. Erik Nummerdor, whose wife Malia Nummerdor, 38, faces charges, said people would rather see him hanged than tell the truth.
Malia Nummerdor was charged with engaging in sexual contact with an animal after her husband shared allegations on Facebook. Erik claimed he had photo and video evidence of the alleged acts. Police contacted Erik after seeing the posts, and he told officers he had installed security cameras at home to find out who was taking money from a coin jar.
Police shown bedroom footage
Reviewing footage from a bedroom camera, Erik said he found a video of his wife engaging in sex acts with their dog. Police were shown images from the recording, and Erik gave officers access to his laptop, according to police documents.
When interviewed, Malia acknowledged the video with the dog but said there was no sexual contact, insisting she was only petting the animal. She has since gained a support community online who claim Erik framed her and urge people to remember that everyone is innocent until proved guilty. A fundraiser started for her has been taken down.
Husband speaks out in tearful video
In the video posted to Facebook, Erik admitted: "this is a woman I love with every ounce of me" but said "I have to stand up for what's right". He said he never wanted things to go the way they did or his marriage to end this way.
Erik disclosed that he has a criminal past, including drugs, alcohol, jail and a prison sentence, but said he now knows the difference between right and wrong. He said he knows many people have his back but that others "rather see me hanged for telling the truth".
He said what is to come will be "messy" and "ugly", but that he was "put here to speak for the ones who couldn't speak for themselves", presumably referring to the dog. Tearing up, he said he had thought hard about the impact on their children, families and friends, and that he ultimately did the right thing.
Court date set
Erik said: "I'm gonna need some help, I don't want money, I need some therapy for sure because my brain is just gone because of all this." He added that no amount of money raised for the other side would change the outcome, which he described as "rock solid and 100% truthful and provable".
Charlotte County Sheriff's Office confirmed to the Daily Star that Malia was released on bail and is next due to appear in court on October 19. She has denied the allegations. It has not been confirmed whether the dog has been removed from the family home, where Malia is believed to have multiple dogs.
