A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital after attempting to swallow an item while being stopped by police in Fazakerley. The incident occurred on Ferrey Road on Tuesday, August 8, when officers approached a man they described as acting suspiciously.

Police said the suspect tried to swallow an item as they intervened, prompting paramedics to be called to the scene. The man was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and later arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer in the line of duty and resisting arrest.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating: 'We can confirm that officers stopped a man who was acting suspiciously on Ferrey Road. The man has then tried to swallow an item and he was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer in the line of duty and resisting arrest. The 55-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution.'
