A domestic abuser turned nasty towards a new girlfriend during a luxury weekend break after being freed from prison. Airdrie Sheriff Court heard the woman was in agony after Kieran Lindsay assaulted her and she cut short her stay at the holiday lodge.
Lindsay, 34, of South Robertson Place, Airdrie, was jailed for seven months. He admitted a course of abusive conduct towards the woman between June 19 and 23 this year. It happened at a lodge at Finn Village, Croftamie, near Loch Lomond, and at an address in Airdrie.
Verbal abuse and keys incident
The court heard Lindsay subjected his partner to verbal abuse during their weekend away. She wanted to leave the lodge but he took her car keys and refused to return them. He dangled the keys in front of her and when she reached out to grab them he grabbed her wrist and applied pressure, causing her pain.
The next morning Lindsay started calling the woman names and going through her phone. She left the lodge and drove home. She couldn't sleep that night because of pain in her wrist. She went to hospital where she was told it was likely she had sustained muscle damage.
Missed calls and further assault
The woman woke at 6am to discover 35 missed calls from Lindsay who was demanding she collect him from the lodge. She refused and he made his own way to her house. She allowed him to stay overnight but eventually when she asked him to leave he slapped her with a shoe, causing redness to her face.
Lindsay also admitted throwing a cup of water over a police officer after his arrest.
Sentencing and previous conviction
Jailing him, Sheriff Tony McGlennan said: "This was outrageous, controlling conduct interspersed with moments of violence." The sheriff also imposed a four-year non-harassment order.
Lindsay was jailed for 18 months in September last year for assaulting another woman. On that occasion, the court heard, he punched, choked and bit his former partner a month after they split after a four-year relationship. She suffered bruising to her eye, cheek, jaw, neck and arms. A 10-year non-harassment order was imposed in that case.
