A man has been arrested after a champion bodybuilder was found stabbed to death on an industrial estate in Stevenston, North Ayrshire. Michael O'Hanlon, 45, who recently won the Mr Scotland title, was discovered beside a car repair workshop at Moorpark industrial estate at about midday on Monday.
Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland said a 43-year-old man had been detained and was expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court later on Tuesday.
O'Hanlon ran the Musclebox bodybuilders and supplements shop in the east end of Glasgow with his partner Eileen Kirkwood. He had won the National Amateur Body-Builders' Association (NABBA) Mr Scotland crown in 2016, having first taken the title 23 years ago.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Police and emergency services responded to a report of a 45-year-old man having been injured. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death, which is being treated as suspicious. Inquiries are at an early stage, however detectives are following a positive line of enquiry.'
