Care worker sacked after sex caught on overnight shift

A care worker has been sacked after allegedly being caught having sex during an overnight shift at a vulnerable client's home, the Sunday Mail understands.

A complaint has been lodged with care provider Keane Premier Support Services after the employee was allegedly spotted through a window at a client's home in Cambuslang last month. The staff worker is understood to have been on an overnight shift caring for a client.

The other person involved is understood not to have been an employee. Following the complaint, the carer was suspended and then sacked.

Complaint lodged after window spot

A source said: “There were noises coming from one of their vulnerable clients’ houses in Cambuslang in July. When the man who heard the noises looked in the window to check if the man who lived there was OK, he saw two people, one a staff member having sex in the client’s sleepover bedroom.

“The concerned man reported it to the company and was told on the phone his concerns would be investigated. There was also a complaint lodged with the Care Inspectorate and the Scottish Social Services Council.”

The allegations prompted concerns over the conduct of staff while caring for the vulnerable in their own homes.

Previous case highlights concerns

Last month we highlighted the case of Mechelle McBride who won a five-figure payout from a care home, after she described finding her mum Elizabeth, with unexplained bruises and injuries.

Elizabeth McBride was a resident at Greyfriars Care Home between 2021 and 2022. The home is owned and operated by Keane Premier Healthcare and is part of the Keane Premier Group. Elderly Elizabeth was living with vascular dementia while a resident at Greyfriars Care Home in Mount Vernon, Glasgow. She died in December 2022 aged 81.

Mechelle told how she watched her health deteriorate and spent months fighting to have her concerns heard. After raising repeated concerns with the care home, Mechelle contacted the Care Inspectorate. Following an investigation, the regulator upheld all three of her complaints.

Provider responds

A spokesperson for Keane Premier Support Services said: “Keane Premier Support Services was appalled by what was reported to us and took immediate action to suspend the member of staff on duty. The individual has since been dismissed and we have referred the matter to the relevant authorities, including the Care Inspectorate and SSSC.

“The family have been kept fully informed. The safety, dignity and wellbeing of the people we support is our absolute priority, and we would never tolerate any conduct that falls short of that.”

The Care Inspectorate said: “If we uphold a complaint about a care service, the outcome is published on our website.”

The SSSC were contacted for comment. They stated they cannot make any comment about individual cases.
