The woman's body was reportedly found in a rural area of the municipality of Finestrat, in the Alicante province of Spain. Finestrat is located 12km from Benidorm on the Costa Blanca.
According to police, the alleged incident took place on Sunday night or Monday morning. Authorities said there was no known history of gender-based violence involving the woman and the suspect.
