Recall Issued for Amazon Light Switch Posing Electric Shock Risk
Amazon Light Switch Recall Over Electric Shock Risk

The UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a Product Safety Report for a product sold on Amazon that could cause "electric shocks". The Lueden 2 Gang 2 Way Double Wall Light Switch presents a high risk of electrical shock because "it was not supplied with an instruction manual for safe installation". The product has been blocked from entering the UK at the border and the listing has been removed from Amazon.

Details of the Recall

The product's country of origin is China, and its import was rejected at the border. The official safety report states: "If the switch is incorrectly wired to the neutral line instead of the live line, leaving the threaded metal part of the bulb socket permanently energised, and the user turns on the light switch, they are at risk of receiving an electric shock." It adds: "There is also a risk of an electrical fire starting, possibly leading to property damage." The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Product Description and Other Recalls

The item is described as a "white moulded double wall light switch supplied in plastic packaging with blue colouring." The Office for Product Safety and Standards also recently shared reports for other Amazon products, including the Chick C Toy, which presents a high risk of choking, and the TOMY UK Boon PIVOT Toddler Tower, which poses a risk of injuries due to instability.
