Andrew McCombe, 44, of Marlborough Grove in Oxton, has been jailed for 27 months after a campaign of abuse and harassment against his girlfriend and her teenage daughter. He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, September 24, after admitting harassment and two counts of criminal damage.
The couple had been in a relationship for about four years, which the victim described as "abusive, controlling and intimidating". The court heard how McCombe threatened to "skin" her daughter and "cut her limb from limb", and told his terrified girlfriend to call the police "because by the time they arrived, she and her daughter would be dead".
Violent incidents detailed in court
On December 26 2025, McCombe smashed a lantern while arguing with the victim. When her daughter tried to help her mum, McCombe told her "I don't know why you're standing there because I'll just go through you". He then threw a plant pot at the girl.
A second incident occurred on May 25 this year, when the victim was shopping in Manchester with her family. McCombe, who had been drinking heavily, sent her a number of messages throughout the day, becoming "increasingly agitated".
Prosecutor Lee Bonner said: "In the early hours of the morning, after many abusive messages, the victim agreed to pick him up. During the journey he was aggressive, confrontational, threatening, screaming and shouting." He threatened to attack her daughter's boyfriend, and threatened to "ram [the victim's] phone down her throat".
Threats and damage at home
At her home McCombe's behaviour escalated, and he threatened to throw his partner off the balcony. He told her he would "torture her mentally until she broke". He said he would smash her car and "pull her arm off". He also turned his anger on the woman's teenage daughter, telling her to "f*** off back to her room" and saying he would "destroy her life" and "blow her head off". He caused damage to the property by striking the walls and tearing out a cupboard, scattering its contents over the floor.
Mr Bonner said: "The description is of a man very much out of control, telling [the victim] to call the police because by the time they arrived, she and her daughter would be dead." The incident was made worse by things the defendant had said previously about cutting [her] daughter into pieces with a knife, or making [her] watch as he skinned her daughter and cut her limb from limb.
Harassment after bail
McCombe was arrested and later released on bail on the condition he did not contact her. He then began a vindictive campaign of harassment against her, calling her multiple times and turning up at her daughter's birthday party and at the Coach and Horses pub while she was there.
In a statement read out in court, she said: "The offences committed against me have had a devastating impact on every aspect of my life. I no longer feel like the same person I was before these events." She said the threats to kill had a profound effect on her, adding: "I genuinely believe these threats could be carried out and I fear for my safety. Even when he was held on remand, I feared what would happen when he is released."
She said both she and her daughter were waiting to receive therapy for the trauma they had suffered. She added: "I have got to the point where I have written goodbye letters to my loved ones as I believe if I do not take my own life, the defendant will, or at least seek revenge against me."
Recorder Eric Lamb sentenced McCombe to 27 months in prison for harassment, and three weeks for each count of criminal damage.
