A man has been charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder of a 58-year-old woman whose body has not yet been found, according to police.
Disappearance and discovery
Police have been investigating the disappearance of the woman, who failed to return to her home in Sydney's north-west on Tuesday. Family members told officers they last heard from her around 4.50pm on Monday, when she said she was meeting a relative in Winston Hills, about 28km west of Sydney. Her car was found in that suburb the following morning at approximately 9.30am.
Arrest and charges
Detectives began inquiries on Thursday into the woman's disappearance, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old man around 1.40pm. He was discovered sitting in a white Toyota Hilux in bushland along Parnell Fire Trail in Tomerong, south of Nowra.
“The body of the woman has not yet been located,” police stated. “Investigations are ongoing.” The man was taken to Nowra police station, where he was charged with murder and refused police bail. He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Friday.
