Gwent Police are investigating an assault in Newport city centre after footage emerged of a male and female attacking another man in broad daylight.
The altercation took place on Bridge Street at around 7pm on Sunday, July 26. Video circulating online shows a male and female appear to punch a male who is against the wall of the HSBC bank. The victim then falls to the floor.
Details of the incident
The male then appears to try to kick the man on the floor in the head, while the female pulls his shoe off. As the pair walk off, she throws the shoe back towards the victim. The group continue shouting at one another.
Gwent Police said an investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances, and officers are reviewing CCTV to identify those involved.

Superintendent Esyr Jones, neighbourhood policing for Gwent, said: "We're committed to working with our partners, including Newport City Council, to improve safety in the city centre and when we identify offences, even retrospectively, we will be taking appropriate action."
He added: "Your reports remain key to us identifying and understanding the accurate level of policing demand in the city centre – so please continue to report your concerns to us."
