Woman Found Dead at Cardiff Hotel: Inquest Opens

A 60-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Cardiff, an inquest opening into her death has heard. Teresa Grutchfield, from Newport, was discovered in the Clayton Hotel on Monday, January 19.

Inquest Details

The brief hearing on Thursday morning, July 2, at Pontypridd Coroners' Court heard how blister packs were also found at the scene. A post-mortem examination was carried out by Dr Meleri Morgan at the University Hospital of Wales on January 26, giving a provisional cause of death of tramadol toxicity.

Coroner's Decision

Area coroner Rachel Knight stated it was necessary to open a full inquest because she was satisfied there was reason to suspect the death may have been unnatural. Ms Grutchfield was born in Newport in March 1965.
