Woman accused of XL Bully sex acts fails to appear in court

Stephanie Watson, 35, failed to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on charges of engaging in sex acts with an XL Bully dog. The court issued a warrant for her arrest, which remains outstanding.

Allegations and Investigation

Watson, of Lanark, faces allegations of having an 'unnatural connection' with a dog at an address in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, between June and December 2024. The charges stem from footage circulated on social media, which members of the public reported to police, prompting an investigation.

It is also claimed that the alleged offence was committed while she was on four separate bail orders.

Court Proceedings

Watson had previously failed to appear in court in June, leading to a warrant for her arrest. She was due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court but again made no appearance in the dock.

Depute fiscal Robbie McDougall told Sheriff Liam Murphy that the hearing was 'cancelled' as a result of her non-appearance. The warrant remains outstanding.

At an earlier hearing, prosecutors said that statements and video footage had to be discussed between them and her lawyer. Watson has made no plea to the allegation against her.
