Nicole Beling, 60, was found dead at her home in south Croydon after being reported missing. A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed.
Discovery and arrest
Police were called just after midnight on July 17 after Ms Beling was reported missing by a family member. She was graded as a high-risk missing person, and officers were sent to her home on Dittoncroft Close later that morning.
Her body was found during a search of the property, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was arrested at the scene on July 17 but was later released under investigation. He was re-arrested on August 1 and has since been bailed as enquiries continue.
Investigation ongoing
The death is being treated as unexplained, but a formal murder investigation has not yet been launched, according to the Met Police. Ms Beling's cause of death is still being examined.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: "A formal murder investigation has not been launched at this time and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Nicole’s sad death."
She added: "We want to hear from anyone who knew Nicole or may have information that could assist the investigation – and help us find answers for her family. My thoughts remain with Nicole’s family and loved ones."
