Wanted Man Caught in Garden After Post Office Robbery

A wanted man who robbed a post office was later caught by police in a back garden. On December 8 2025, Joshua Chase entered Dacre Hill Post Office on Old Chester Road in Rock Ferry and took several items, worth over £100, without paying.

A woman tried to stop Chase from stealing and stopped him at the door of the post office. But Chase pushed her out of the way, which left a bruise on her hip. Chase was listed as wanted by officers after he was identified via CCTV footage of the robbery.

Arrest in Eastham

On Sunday, April 19, officers on patrol on Bridle Road in Eastham spotted Chase. He ran from officers but was quickly detained as he was climbing the wall of a back garden in the area.

He was arrested and later charged for his offences and remanded on conditional bail.

Sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court

Chase, 26, of no fixed address but previously of Clifford Grange, Grenville Way, Tranmere, was sentenced to three years for robbery at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, October 12.

He was also handed a restraining order (protection from harassment) until October 2033 and ordered to pay over £200 to his victim.

Police Comment

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Philip Ryan said: “Chase committed a serious offence and injured a woman in his desperation to leave with the items he had stolen.

“Our officers in Wirral were aware of Chase’s recent offences and made a swift arrest when they spotted him in Eastham.

“Chase has now been given a prison sentence, which we hope brings a measure of comfort to the victim he harmed.

“We hope that this result shows the extensive work that our officers carry out to put offenders before the courts. CCTV footage can often be the key to successful investigations, so I'd keep encouraging anyone who captures offences on their devices to come forward and we can make an assessment and take action.
