A van driver who died in a crash in Dumfriesshire has been named as William Laurie, 66, known as Billy. The incident occurred on the B7020 at Kinnel Hook near Lochmaben on Sunday, July 19.
Crash details and emergency response
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10.20am. The white Ford Transit van was involved in a single-vehicle crash. Mr. Laurie was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for around six hours for crash investigation work, reopening at 4.30pm.
Police appeal for information
Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward. Sergeant Lindsey Tait said: “Our thoughts are with Billy’s family, and they have asked for privacy at this time. Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. We are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. If you were driving in the area please check any dash-cam footage to see if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”
