Two men arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an alleged assault in Wigan have been bailed, police said.
Incident on Bryn Street
Greater Manchester Police said they were alerted by colleagues in the North West Ambulance Service to reports of an 'ongoing disturbance' at an address on Bryn Street on Friday evening (July 31).
A man was said to be 'bleeding from his face' but 'refused medical care' at the scene. He said he could not remember how he got his injuries and that he would go to hospital himself in the morning.
Victim named
The man, later named as 56-year-old Brian Cunliffe, presented at Salford Royal Hospital the next day 'in a life-threatening condition' and sadly died of his injuries on Sunday (August 2).
Two men, one in his 50s and one in his 30s, were arrested on suspicion of murder and were being questioned by detectives in GMP's Major Incident Team.
Bailed
Police said it is believed that the victim and suspects knew each other. The two men have since been bailed.
