A 12-year-old schoolboy from Essex who tragically lost his life following an incident in Brentwood has been identified as Bobby Bloomfield. The young boy passed away in hospital after being discovered by police on Sunday evening, June 7, with severe injuries.
Incident Details
Police were called to Ashwells Road in the Pilgrims Hatch area of Brentwood shortly before 5:40pm. Bobby sustained serious injuries and died a short time later in hospital. Two individuals — a 15-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man — have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
Family Tributes
In a statement, Bobby's family said: "Losing a child is every parent's nightmare. We are living that nightmare, and no words can ever explain how we are feeling. Bobby brought light and life into all our lives, and we have lost that forever." They requested privacy during this difficult time.
School Response
Bobby was a pupil at Shenfield High School. A school spokesperson expressed deep sadness and offered condolences to the family, adding that support is being provided to pupils, staff, and the wider community. Due to the ongoing police investigation, they could not comment further.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe of the serious crime unit described the incident as isolated, with no ongoing threat to the community. She urged residents to check CCTV footage from between 8am and 7pm on Sunday and report via the police portal.
