Plot Overview
According to its synopsis, the FBI enlists former agent Ryan Hardy, despite his physical and psychological wounds, after an infamous serial killer named Joe Carroll escapes from death row. Carroll, a former English professor and novelist with an obsession for Edgar Allan Poe, brutally murdered 14 women before his capture. While imprisoned, he assembled a group of cult-like followers who are ready to commit murder, enable kidnappings, and even die to help him achieve his ultimate goal: revenge on Ryan Hardy.
The first season chronicles Hardy's efforts to recapture Carroll while his own family is placed in mortal danger. Subsequent seasons introduce fresh antagonists and other menacing cults.

Kevin Bacon portrays FBI agent Ryan Hardy throughout all seasons, while James Purefoy, known for Rome and The Witcher, plays killer Joe Carroll.
