Craig McCormick Named as Man Who Died in Stockport Reservoir Tragedy
Stockport Reservoir Death: Craig McCormick, 48, Named

The man who died in a reservoir in Stockport has been identified as 48-year-old Craig McCormick.

Police were called to Sykes Reservoir in Alexandra Park, Edgeley, at around 8:30pm on Thursday July 9 after reports of a man getting into difficulty in the water. Emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews, attended and the reservoir was cordoned off. A man's body was recovered a short time later.

Inquest to be opened

Stockport Coroner's Court has listed the opening of an inquest into his death, which is due to take place on Friday.

Tributes paid

Tributes have been paid to McCormick on social media. One friend said: "Thanks for the years of fun and laughter." Adding: "Such a massive loss for all of us that knew him."

A second said: "Will be misseed pal. Can't believe it." A third added: "Rest in peace my brother."

Police warning

Following the tragedy, Greater Manchester Police said they were looking into the full circumstances but reminded people of the serious risks associated with open water.
