Prisoner Escapes from Jail Van in London, Police Hunt

Police are urgently searching for a prisoner who escaped from a jail transport van in south-east London on Monday evening. Temitope Segun, 25, was last seen on Woolwich High Street at around 6.40pm, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Video footage shared on social media shows the scene shortly after the escape, with police cars and flashing lights parked in front of a prison van near the now-closed Waterfront Leisure Centre. Authorities believe Segun has links to Plumstead, Abbey Wood, and Woolwich.

Detectives have released an image of the fugitive. Detective Sergeant Claudine Manning, leading the search, said: “My team of dedicated officers are working around the clock to trace and apprehend Temitope Segun. It is imperative that the public contact police via 999 if they see him – or know where he may be.”

Segun was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and black trainers. Police advise the public not to approach him and instead call 999 immediately, quoting reference 2270/10JUN. Anonymous tips can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with the same reference.
