Police Scotland has launched an investigation into sexual assault allegations against the late Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed. The force is reportedly looking into allegations of attempted rape at his Balnagown Estate in Easter Ross in the Highlands. Al Fayed, who died in August 2023, is alleged to have sexually abused hundreds of women and girls over the course of decades.
Investigation Reopened
In 2024, police said they had completed their investigation into a non-recent sexual assault at Balnagown, which Al Fayed bought in 1972. The case has been reopened after a new witness came forward, according to the Scottish Mail on Sunday. The alleged attack is reported to have occurred in 1991.
Police Statement
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Further investigation is ongoing. It would be inappropriate to comment further.” More than 400 allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against Al Fayed dating back to 1977.
