Police are conducting a review into the deaths of four people who lived at a homeless shelter at the same time as serial killer James Desborough, who is to be sentenced on Wednesday afternoon for murdering two men in Cornwall.
Details of the Murders
Desborough, 40, was found guilty of murdering Claudio Aquilino, 57, and Daniel Coleman, 43. The killer and his victims lived together at Sandy Lodge Hotel in Newquay, which housed homeless people and those with addictions.
Review of Four Other Deaths
In light of the murders, police are reviewing the unexplained deaths of two men and two women who lived at the same hotel between December 2024 and April 2025, during which time they died unexpectedly. Detective Superintendent Rachael Bentley of Devon and Cornwall Police said a separate detective inspector conducted a review involving forensic work, CCTV, and statements. She noted, “We don’t believe there is a link at this time,” but added that inquiries are ongoing and Desborough is not a suspect in those deaths.
