Police have renewed their call for people who may have information about allegations levelled at Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to come forward. The former prince was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Ongoing Investigation
Thames Valley Police has also said they are considering allegations of sexual misconduct. In May, it was reported that they were looking into an allegation that he behaved inappropriately towards a woman at Royal Ascot. Andrew has not been charged, and he has denied all wrongdoing.
Now, cops have said there is no update to issue regarding the case, but they are continuing to pursue lines of enquiry. They have also again told people who may have any information about Andrew's alleged conduct to come forward.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "We don’t have an update at this time, but we are following all reasonable lines of enquiry."
"We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward through the usual non-emergency police contact channels." They added: "Misconduct in public office is a complex crime that may manifest as a variety of different behaviours, including sexual misconduct."
Loss of Titles and Honours
Andrew was stripped of his titles by the King because of “serious lapses of judgment” over his friendship with the deceased paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, also lost her courtesy royal divorcee title and reverted to her maiden name. In addition, she lost the freedom of the city of York after councillors voted unanimously to revoke the honour because of her links to Epstein.
Sarah Ferguson's Charity Wound Up
Ferguson's charity has been shut down following scrutiny of her links with Epstein. The former Duchess of Sussex's Trust, which introduced philanthropists to good causes in need of funding, was formally wound up last month, having been registered with the Charity Commission in 2018. The commission’s website lists the trust as being “removed”, meaning it is no longer a registered charity.
Ferguson has faced calls to speak to the US authorities about Epstein after the release earlier this year of millions of documents associated with him shed new light on their relationship. One email exchange suggested Sarah took her daughters to see Epstein in the US days after he was released from prison for child sex crimes.
