Police officer cleared after 'vindictive' harassment claims

A Greater Manchester Police constable, known as 'Officer X', has been exonerated after a disciplinary panel dismissed 'vindictive' allegations of sexual harassment made by two female colleagues. The officer, a father and former personal trainer who joined GMP in 2018, faced accusations that could have ended his career.

Background of the Case

The officer was transferred to another station in south Manchester in 2024 after responding to traumatic incidents, including the death of an infant he performed CPR on. He described the new environment as 'toxic', claiming a female sergeant considered him a 'massive misogynist' and pursued a vendetta against him, recruiting a colleague to tarnish his reputation.

Allegations from Person A

The first accuser, a civilian worker referred to as Person A, alleged the officer asked if she enjoyed one-night stands and told her he liked having sex in hotels. The officer said these were 'adult conversations' with someone he discovered had attended his school, during a low point in his career.

Allegations from Officer B

The second accuser, a police constable known as Officer B, claimed that after accidentally brushing his leg while changing gear, the officer said, 'Oh, you are touching me. It's fine, I want to be touched.' She also alleged he commented on her glasses, saying they made him 'feel really hot under the collar', and showed her a picture of a flat, stating, 'That would be your side of the bed.' The officer denied these comments and said she never touched his leg.

Panel's Findings

The disciplinary panel, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker, found Officer X to be a 'credible' witness with a 'detailed recollection of events'. In contrast, Person A was 'vague' and Officer B was not considered 'credible'. The panel concluded that the alleged misconduct was not proven, describing the interactions as 'evolving adult conversations' and 'oversharing' by both parties.

Officer's Statement

Officer X told the hearing: 'I am not a predator, and I am not any form of danger to any women. I am a kind man who just wants to be happy at work and do the job I have given my life to.' He expressed hope to return to work and rebuild his career.

Context and Impact

The case comes amid scrutiny of GMP's disciplinary processes. The officer had suffered PTSD after traumatic incidents and felt unsupported by management. He alleged the sergeant pursued a vendetta against him, leading to a two-year battle to clear his name. The panel dismissed all allegations, and Officer X plans to resume his duties.
