The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has said an initial investigation into the collision on the A66 near Middlesbrough last month, which killed five young men and two police officers, found no evidence of "tactical contact" or the use of a stinger before the crash.
Officers and victims named
The incident happened in August, when two Cleveland Police officers - PC Tom Clough and PC Matthew Blades - lost their lives during a head-on crash on the major A-road. A Volkswagen Passat that was being driven the wrong way following a pursuit collided with their police vehicle.
The Passat was occupied by five people - Jakub Matusiak, 23, Cole Robert Worthy, 17, Theo Rae, 17, Makai Saddington, 18, and 23-year-old Michael Robert Cahill. They also died in the crash.
