Prosecutors have confirmed that no proceedings will be taken against a 34-year-old Iranian man following an incident at the Faslane naval base. The decision follows the arrest of the man and a 31-year-old Romanian woman after an alleged attempt to enter the base on March 19.
Crown Office statement
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said the 34-year-old will have no proceedings brought against him “at this time”. In a statement, the prosecution service said: “The procurator fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on March 19 2026.
“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.”
Incident and base background
The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available. The Royal Navy has previously said that two people unsuccessfully tried to enter the base.
Faslane, formally known as HM Naval Base Clyde, is home to the UK’s nuclear deterrent. The Royal Navy’s Astute-class attack submarines are also based there.
